RIJF 2025 is a Wrap

We attended 8 of 9 days of this jazz festival, heard many new groups, and limited purchases to 2 wines, 1 beer, and 2 CDs. PB&J was our go-to meal. We. Are. So. Cheap.

The Empty Stage: Oscar Peterson Centennial Quartet at Kilbourn Hall

Robi Botos (piano) and friends Mark McLean (drums), Brandi Disterheft (bass) and Jocelyn Gould (guitar) performed a beautiful and rousing set in honor of the memory of the great Oscar Peterson. John Nugent was gracious to provide a few minutes of personalized reminiscence and insured that everyone in the room knew this concert was dedicated to OP. Robi seems to get better and better as the years go by – or maybe I just hear better and better each time I see him play. We left after a satisfying encore of C Jam Blues knowing that this was one of a select few standout highlights of a great festival.
